Ask Help – Don’t Stay Alone With Your Problems

365 Ways To Wellbeing – 282nd Way

This autumn I´ve started to pay more attention to song lyrics. I´ve started to read them more and tried to find the atmosphere that the lyrics and the melody formed together. I´ve always liked music but now I’ve gotten to the deeper level. I don´t only listen to the music anymore. I sense the music.

This day I listened to a song “Older chests” by Damien Rice. I got tears of happiness in my eyes when I listened “we always seem to need the help of someone else”. Those words made me realize one very good thing about my crisis. For the first time in my life I have really learned to ask help. I´ve realized that until now I haven´t understood to ask help. I just haven’t been able to that somehow. In some way I´ve believed that I need to survive alone. That no one can help me. And because I haven´t known how to ask help, I haven´t realized what I´ve missed. Luckily it has changed now.

So this day my advice is “ask help”. Don´t stay alone with your problems. We all need help from the others sometimes . You just have to learn to ask it.

“Older Chests” – Damien Rice

Older chests reveal themselves
Like a crack in a wall
Starting small, and grow in time
And we always seem to need the help
Of someone else
To mend that shelf
Too many books
Read me your favourite line

Papa went to other lands
And he found someone who understands
The ticking, and the western man’s need to cry
He came back the other day, you know
Some things in life may change
And some things
They stay the same

Like time, there’s always time
On my mind
So pass me by, I’ll be fine
Just give me time

Older gents sit on the fence
With their cap in hand
Looking grand
They watch their city change
Children scream, or so it seems,
Louder than before
Out of doors, and into stores with bigger names
Mama tried to wash their faces
But these kids they lost their graces
And daddy lost at the races too many times

She broke down the other day, yeah you know
Some things in life may change
But some things they stay the same

Like time, there’s always time
On my mind
So pass me by, I’ll be fine
Just give me time
Time, there’s always time
On my mind
Pass me by, I’ll be fine
Just give me time
