Simple autumn activity with a child

30.10.2012

Yesterday we got first snow to my home region. Snowy nature looks so so beautiful! However, let`s enjoy still awhile for autumn colors…

In summer I showed you some pictures how we built huts out of branches with my daughter. Summer is over and so is playing on the beach. However nature offers creative activity possibilities also during other seasons.

When I was a child one of my favourite autumn activities was to do “leaf pictures”. Now when I`m a mother I`ve noticed that I still like to do that, and that also my child enjoys this simple but fun autumn activity.

This is how you do it:

  1. Gather different kinds of leaves from nature and take them inside.
  2. Besides leaves take paper, glue and contact paper. Select the leaves that you want to put to your leaf picture.
  3. Put a little bit of glue behind every leaf and glue them to the paper in a way you want (If you want you can also cut leaves with scissors or shape them in other way)
  4. When your leaf picture is ready, spread contact paper over the paper and leaves. Leaves don`t then dry and the color of them stays good.
Easy, cheap and fun!

(Our two-year-old found that glueing the leaves was the best thing. She could had continued that till the glue was finished!)
